Build a small route you can recognize

At a new room, turn enough to recognize the entrance from the inside. Choose one distinctive feature and pair it with your direction of arrival. A note such as "entered opposite the large sign" is more useful than a long sequence of turns without any visual reference.

At the next junction, repeat the process. If you can no longer connect the current room to the previous one, stop adding new turns and recover that relationship before exploring farther. Beginner Guide explains how to keep the first session focused.

Separate location from outcome

An artifact sighting, a moving figure, and a still-life arrangement can each help identify a room. They do not establish that the same thing appears there every time. Note the location and the event separately, including the date, rather than turning one encounter into a permanent spawn rule.

When crossing a doorway or other transition, record what changed: the label, lighting, surrounding layout, or your ability to recognize the way back. Avoid calling it an exit until the game actually establishes where it leads.

Use navigation purchases for their listed role
